Description:
Follow blueprints, specifications and work instructions to build weldments ensuring that all parts are properly fitted, adhering to a production schedule and testing to ensure manufactured unit satisfies operational requirements.
The position requires the following:
- Must be proficient reading complicated prints and experienced understanding detail, section and auxiliary views. Also, important to understand “bill of material” list association with print.
- Skill and experience using overhead cranes, forklifts, jib cranes and aerial lifts are essential skills.
- Ability to use common hand tools and power hand tools. Power hand tools include pneumatic, battery and electric.
- Basic plumbing skills are required such as assembling threaded joints and working with rubber hose.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Layout experience using high school level mathematics and geometry.
- Experienced with Plasma and oxyacetylene cutting equipment.
- Proficient with MIG and TIG welding.
- Minimum three to five years of fabrication experience and two to four years welding experience.
- Understanding alignment of components in a design such as gear boxes, shafts, and motors
- Must possess personal hand tools.
- Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Basic computer skills required.
- Basic pneumatic and hydraulic knowledge.
- Must have good physical dexterity and stamina.
- Attention to detail and good organizational skills required.
- Travel and overnight stay at domestic as well as international customer site will be required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Fabricating and welding complex weldments following blueprints and schematics.
- Perform complex and advanced assembly of moderate to heavy components utilizing various lifting and positioning devices.
- Perform diagnostic test such as vacuum leak test and hydrostatic pressure test with the ability to utilize all associated equipment.
- Proficient skill with overhead crane to position large plates, pipes and heavy components.
- Identify and prepare material for fabrication and welding.
- Measure, layout, grind, cut and weld various materials such as steel, stainless steel and aluminum.
- Use industrial machinery and tools to perform job duties including, but not limited to, plasma/oxyacetylene cutting, pneumatic and electric hand grinders, iron worker, weld positioner, vertical saw and welding equipment, such as, STICK, MIG, and TIG.
- 1-3 years fabricator experience required. 3G or 6G, a plus.
- Must be able to successfully pass in-house assessment test and third-party inspected weld performance qualifications test.
- Able to stand for long periods of time is essential.
- Interpreting mechanical drawings, including weld requirement symbolism.
- Work to allowed tolerances and maintain Company quality standards.
- Complete Work Orders, as assigned, and on time, to meet company production goals.
- Able to perform data entry function for material used utilizing manufacturing software system.
- Examine workpieces for defects and measure workpieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications.
- Operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade.
- Prepare all material surfaces to be welded, ensuring that there is no loose or thick scale, slag, rust, moisture, grease, or other foreign material.
- Tasks require manual dexterity including walking, standing, pulling, pushing and squatting most of the time; additionally, lifting 30-50 pounds regularly.
- Detailed reporting of product malfunctions.
- Follow test procedures to promote production of quality products.
- Will be asked to work from verbal instructions as well as written instructions including diagrams.
- Must comply with all safety and regulatory procedures.
